Here’s what a typical week might look like in spelling:

Monday
Words and spelling “rules” are introduced.
Students practice writing words in cursive.
Homework:  Write each word 4 times in cursive due on Tuesday. (Misspelled words must be written correctly 10 times).

Tuesday
A writing strategy or skill is introduced and practiced.
Students use any 10 spelling words to compose 10 quality sentences that follow the criteria set in the lesson.  These sentences are usually due on Thursday.
Students should review spelling words.

Wednesday
A spelling game or practice activity is played.
Students should review spelling words.

Thursday
A 20 word spelling test is given with one, unannounced “bonus word.”
